Easy Nut Butters
Nuts are some of the healthiest foods on the planet. They are rich in protective antioxidants and omega-3, they support gut health and are high in protein. Perfect as a snack or to add to any dessert, breakfast or dishes. All you need is one ingredient and some time and love. As soon you start doing your nut butters you will never buy it from a shop. It’s so easy and so much cheaper, you will taste the difference I promise.
- Prep 10 mins
- Cook 15 mins
- Total 25 mins
- Makes 500 gr
Ingredients
2 cups of nuts (my favourite are Almond, peanut and hazelnut)
1 pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
Step 1 – Roast the nuts in the oven at 160C for 12-14 mins. Keep an eye on them, they roast very fast. The time will depend on your oven and the nuts you are using. We want lightly roasted nuts.
Step 2 – Set the nuts aside, when they cool down a bit add them to a food processor for 10-15mins. Scrap the sides every few minutes. Don’t let it get hot, you may need to stop for a few minutes at a time, be patient.
Step 3 – The nuts should go from whole, to sand, to clumps, to creamy nut butter. Once creamy you can add the salt to taste. Then transfer to a clean jar or container and store in a cold dry place up to 1 month.
About the Ingredients
Nuts: You can blend different nuts according your taste. You can also add seeds like Linseeds, pumpkin or sesame. Or cinnamon and chocolate. My favourite is Healthy Nutella Spread, check my simple recipe and try it for yourself.
